Canada, Iroquois to square off in final

The favorites have emerged in the finals of the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, which are taking place in Central New York. Canada and Iroquois Nationals will face off at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

The two teams have been the class of the field in the 10-day event. Canada beat the Nationals, 11-9, in round-robin play. Representing the Buffalo Bandits in the tournament are Ryan Benesch (10 goals in three games), Dhane Smith (26 points in four games), Billy Dee Smith and Steve Priolo. Brandon Goodwin has five points in five games for Iroquois, while Bandit teammate Jerome Thompson has four points.

In the third place game, the United States will play Israel at 1 p.m. Orchard Park’s Joe Smith and Hamburg’s Joe Resetarits are both in the American lineup, while Chad Culp of the Bandits leads the Israeli team in scoring with 35 points in seven games.
