Here are the new first-run movies now showing in area theaters.

Everest. Starring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington and Robin Wright. Directed by Baltasar Kormakur. The true story of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, focusing on the survival attempts of two expedition groups. 121 minutes. (Rated PG-13 for intense peril and disturbing images.) The Green Inferno. Starring Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Aaron Burns and Kirby Bliss Blanton. Directed by Eli Roth. A group of student activists travels to the Amazon to save the rain forest and soon discover that they are not alone, and that no good deed goes unpunished. 100 minutes. (Rated R for aberrant violence and torture, grisly disturbing images, brief graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use.) Hotel Transylvania 2. With the voices of Adam Sandler, Kevin James,Steve Buscemi, Selena Gomez, Keegan-Michael Key and Andy Samberg. Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. When the old-old-old-fashioned vampire Vlad arrives at the hotel for an impromptu family get-together, Hotel Transylvania is in for a collision of supernatural old-school and modern day cool. 89 minutes. The Intern. Starring Anne Hathaway, Robert De Niro, Rene Russo and Directed by Nancy Meyers. A 70-year-old widower has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site. 121 minutes. (Rated PG-13 for some suggestive content and brief strong language.) Pawn Sacrifice. Starring Tobey Maguire, Liev Schreiber, Peter Sarsgaard and Lily Rabe. Directed by Edward Zwick. Set during the Cold War, American chess prodigy Bobby Fischer finds himself caught between two superpowers and his own struggles as he challenges the Soviet Empire. 114 minutes.
