Rural/Metro needs to put more ambulances on road
If it wasn’t such a serious matter, I would be laughing at the comments made by Rural/Metro Regional Director Jay Smith that were in a News article published on Sept. 16, informing us of the long wait times for ambulances in the city, again. According to Smith, the public just doesn’t understand the system in place for emergency medical calls. Maybe so. But as a resident of the city for over 20 years, I have never seen ambulance service as pathetic as it is today.
I think that the most common phrase you hear on the Buffalo Fire Department radio is “ambulance not available.” But there is an easy solution. Put more ambulances on the road, period. I sorely hope that things improve with the new contract due on Oct. 1. We’ll see.
