Shots fired call lead to arrest of Brewster Street suspect

A 17-year-old Brewster Street suspect was arrested on felony weapons and other charges after Buffalo police responded to a shots-fired call on that street late Tuesday night, police reported Thursday.

James Fisher was captured at Brewster and Halbert Streets after a brief foot chase about 9:08 p.m. After being confronted on the first block of Brewster he allegedly ran toward Halbert, throwing a loaded 9 mm pistol containing six live rounds to the ground before he was captured at the intersection. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, obstructing governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana. He remained in custody at the Erie County Holding Center Thursday night pending further court proceedings.
