Unwanted and outdated prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, syringes, inhalers, liquids, ointments and patches can be dropped off for free at 13 locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in a program sponsored by the Erie County Department of Environmental Conservation. The locations include:
SUNY Buffalo State, parking lot R4; the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens; Kenmore Mercy Hospital; Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst; Sisters of Charity St. Joseph’s Campus, Cheektowaga; Mercy Ambulatory Care Center, Orchard Park; Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville; Evans Town Hall; Grand Island Town Hall; Twin District Volunteer Fire Company, Lancaster; the North Collins Police Department; the Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Center; and the West Seneca Senior Center.
Items containing mercury or radioactive material will not be accepted. Discarded drugs and medical items will be safely incinerated by Covanta Energy in Niagara Falls.
