Anita Alvarez of Kenmore was selected as part of the 2016 U.S. Olympic qualification duet. She and teammate Mariya Koroleva will compete in an Olympic Qualification Tournament in March to qualify for the Olympics. Alvarez and Koroleva finished sixth at the French Open last March in their first competition as a duet. She was also a member of the U.S. teams that took gold at the 2015 U.S. Open and the 2015 U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships and won a bronze medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games.

The Wilson Athletics Wall of Fame Class of 2015 will be Ed Kiely, Steve Geltz, Ann Twardowski Werth, Tim White and Jerry Kadryna. The induction dinner and ceremony will be Oct. 17 at the Wilson Fire Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30. BASKETBALL: The Buffalo Titans and Hilbert College Women’s Basketball are hosting a coaches clinic on Oct. 10 at Hilbert College. Women’s coaches will speak from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. featuring Jada Pierce (Niagara University), Scott Hemer (SUNY Geneseo), and Dave Skolen (Daemen College). Men’s coaches will follow from 1 – 3:30 p.m. featuring speakers Mark Linebaugh (Hobart College), Russ Phillips (Alfred University), and Jason Leone (SUNY Oswego). HOCKEY: The Buffalo Regals Hockey Club House League training camps for the 2015-16 season has spots available for all divisions. Boys and girls 7-12 years of age are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible at buffaloregals.org or at Holiday Twin Rinks lobby on Friday or Wednesday or any house-scheduled ice time. All players receive new uniforms for the upcoming season at no additional cost of the program which include the mite, squirt, and pee wee divisions. For details, visit buffaloregals.org website.
