Metro Rail’s Allen-Medical Campus Station will reopen with the start of operations on Saturday morning following an 18-day closing to accommodate construction of the new University at Buffalo Medical School.
Kimberley A. Minkel, executive director of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, said the shutdown was necessary to integrate the station into the new medical facility rising above.
“I want to thank our loyal customers for their continued patience and understanding during the construction of the new medical school atop our facility,” she said. “The end result will be a state-of-the-art Metro Rail station that will complement the neighborhood and the Medical Campus very nicely.”
NFTA officials said they do not anticipate further closings of the station as the project proceeds.
