Red Cross volunteer from Kenmore sent to Philadelphia for pope’s visit

Peggy McGee-Smith, of Kenmore, is one of six American Red Cross volunteers from the Western and Central New York Region traveling to Philadelphia to assist in Red Cross efforts there during the visit of Pope Francis.

The Red Cross, at the request of state and local officials, is providing water, first-aid and reunification services for people separated from loved ones in large crowds during the papal appearance. The Red Cross also is supporting shelters for emergency personnel and other volunteers.
