Portville police chief charged in drug sale placed on administrative leave

PORTVILLE – Village Police Chief Ron Brisbee was arrested Wednesday and charged with illegally selling pain pills, State Police report. Troopers said village officials placed Brisbee on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.

Brisbee, 52, was charged with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, and official misconduct. He was arraigned in Little Valley before Cattaraugus County Judge Ronald D. Ploetz and released without bail.

Troopers said the arrest followed an investigation into Brisbee allegedly providing pain pills to another person while he was on duty. Brisbee has been officer in charge of the village police department since 2006.
