Chautauqua County wind farm awarded share of $175 million from state

The Ball Hill Wind Farm in northern Chautauqua County is one of five clean energy projects across the state that will share in $175 million in New York State Energy Research and Development Authority awards, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced Wednesday.

The wind farm, to be built by RES America Developments Inc. in the towns of Villenova and Hanover, is expected to generate 100 megawatts of electricity. The announcement, in conjunction with Climate Week, will help the state meet its goals in increasing the amount of power provided from renewable sources.
