Newfane man found making meth

NEWFANE – Deputies called to a Main Street address to investigate a suspicious man with a BB gun last Thursday morning, also uncovered five long guns and methamphetamine.

Michael E. Jones, 27, of Main Street was arrested on Thursday on charges of third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and seventh-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Deputies had been called to 2588 Main Street to investigate a man walking around with a gun. They found Jones with the BB gun and confiscated the gun from him. An alert neighbor steered deputies to a garbage can where they located what appeared to be a portable meth making kit in a garbage bag.

The Niagara County Drug Task Force was called to the scene with a search warrant. Inside Jones’ residence they found a dinner plate and many gallon-sized plastic bags that all tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as five long guns.
