Lockport woman admits to selling drugs

LOCKPORT – Joan I. Porrata, 49, of Washburn Street, Lockport, accepted a plea offer in a drug case Tuesday in Niagara County Court.

Porrata admitted to a reduced charge of attempted fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling the anti-anxiety drug clonazepam to a police informant Nov. 30 in Lockport.

County Judge Sara Sheldon scheduled sentencing Dec. 1 and promised to give Porrata no more than a year in the County Jail, eliminating state prison from her sentencing options. Porrata will have to repay $60 to the county Drug Task Force.
