WHEATFIELD – Shirley J. Joy, who ran unsuccessfully for the Wheatfield Town Board two years ago, has announced she’s trying again this fall.
Joy, 72, is the Democratic nominee for one of the two councilman seats available on the Nov. 3 ballot. Her running mate is Robert W. Flammia.
Joy is an accountant, having worked in that capacity for Carborundum Abrasives and in the public sector. She has a degree in that field from Niagara University.
She has been chairwoman of the town Democratic Committee and also served for several years on the town Recreation Commission.
Joy called for “responsible commercial and residential growth” in Wheatfield, along with preserving green space and maintaining natural drainage. She is a member of the Wheatfield Garden Club.
