Free services for more than 600 local homeless people will be available 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
Counseling, health screening and exams, personal care items and food gift cards will be given out as part of Project Homeless Connect Buffalo’s seventh annual event. Free lunches will also be provided for the homeless.
Event organizers will take the opportunity to call on Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to fund 35,000 housing units statewide that include on-site services as a way to combat chronic homelessness.
