Kindles stolen from BOCES campus traced to Niagara Falls teen

SANBORN – Eight Kindle e-book readers stolen from the Orleans-Niagara BOCES campus earlier this year were traced to a Niagara Falls teen, Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies said.

The devices were stolen from a cabinet in the auto shop of the Saunders Settlement Road facility on Jan. 20, deputies said. Investigators were unable to identify the thief at the time but have since tracked down applications purchased for the devices from Amazon to the account of a 17-year-old Niagara Falls boy, who was a student at the school at the time of the thefts and had reportedly been caught trying to enter the cabinet earlier the day of the thefts.

School officials have been unsuccessful in trying to have the property returned, and have since filed an insurance claim, authorities said.
