Bylsma finds highlights as Sabres slow down on Day Two

The hard work from the Sabres' first day of training camp took a toll on Day Two. Saturday's scrimmage was less lively than Friday's opener, with Group B beating Group C, 1-0. (Teams are available here.)

Jason Akeson scored the only goal after being awarded a penalty shot. The Rochester-bound forward faked a shot from close range then beat goalie Nathan Lieuwen on the glove side.

Sam Reinhart missed a chance to tie the game late, and Group B goalie C.J. Motte also made a glove save on Zach Bogosian.

"I would say that the pace was a notch or two lower than yesterday’s scrimmage," coach Dan Bylsma said in First Niagara Center. "It’s not totally to be unexpected."

Bylsma praised the play of Cal O'Reilly, Zach Bogosian and Marcus Foligno.

"I liked Cal a lot in the scrimmage," the coach said. "I liked a lot from Zach. He stood out today in both the practice and the scrimmage and really stood out as a guy at another level. We talked about the pace a little bit, and he looked very good and very fresh. He skated really well.

"I thought Marcus Foligno had a really good day and stood out both in the practice and in his scrimmage. That’s the way he’s got to play. He played big. He played strong. He can skate so well. I thought he stood out as well."
