Ransomville pig roast features music and entertainment

Ransomville is bringing home the bacon. It’s time for Pig-A-Palooza, a free festival of music, inspiration, entertainment, a bounce house for the kids and, of course, pulled pork.

A big crowd is expected, and the organizers are ready. Music includes two popular Western New York Christian rock bands: Lily Among Thorns, featuring vocalist Cheyenne Cleveland, and Uncut Stones, with vocalist Melanie Browning. A special guest is inspirational speaker Joanne Lorenzo, founder and director of the Magdalene Project, which ministers to troubled women. The Injest comedy variety show will take the stage for half an hour. The show ends with a fireworks display starting at 8 p.m.

Classic cars will be on display, courtesy of the Western New York Corvette Club and the Cataract Cruisers Car Club. Shenandoah Acres will present a petting zoo and pony rides. The Buffalo Zoo Mobile will be on site, and so will Wild Kritters of Niagara. The Wing and Rotor Model Flying Club adds its own excitement. And over it all will hover the aroma of fresh-popped popcorn.

The event is free, but donations are welcome. Dinner will include – besides that smoked pork – beef hot dogs, pizza, macaroni salad, applesauce, chips, cookies, coffee and cold drinks.

Pig-A-Palooza starts at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ransomville Free Methodist Church, 3924 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. The party is rain or shine. For info, call 504-7208.
