Free smoke alarms available under Red Cross program

More than 50 Buffalo homeowners will receive free smoke alarms that will be installed by the Red Cross volunteers on Monday and Tuesday.

The effort is part of the organization’s national campaign to reduce fire deaths and injuries by about 25 percent over the next five years, Red Cross spokesman Jay Bonafede said.

The smoke alarm program is open to all Western New York residents. For more information, contact the Red Cross at (716) 878-2353 at smokealarms.wny@redcross.org.
