Registration underway for 26th annual Linda Yalem Run on Sept. 27

Sign-up is underway for the 26th annual Linda Yalem Safety Run, a 5K event at the University at Buffalo’s North Campus on Sept. 27. The race gets underway at 9:30 a.m. at UB’s Alumni Arena. The cost to register is $25 for the general public and $20 for UB students. To sign up, visit

Head UB football coach Lance Leipold will serve as honorary race starter, and race participants will receive a free ticket to see the UB Bulls take on the University of Nevada on Sept. 26. Post-race events include food, entertainment and the Kids Dash for children 5 to 10 years old.

Registration fees support rape prevention and safety awareness programs at UB. The race honors the memory of Yalem, a UB student who was raped and murdered in September 1990 on the Amherst Bike Path as she trained for the New York City Marathon.
