Hamburg Town Board to discuss upsizing Friday

Hamburg Town Board members will meet at 11 a.m. Friday to discuss upsizing the Town Board.

Several volunteers collected more than 500 signatures on a petition asking the board to schedule a public vote to increase the size of the board. Barbara Rogers, who organized the initiative, called downsizing a “five-year failed experiment.”

Voters approved downsizing the five-member board in 2009, and the three-member board went into effect Jan. 1, 2012, when the seats held by Kevin Smardz and Councilman-elect Jonathan Gorman were eliminated.
