NORTH TONAWANDA – The 190th anniversary of Erie Canal will be celebrated with a historic coloring contest for North Tonawanda children ages 8 to 10.
The contest is sponsored by the North Tonawanda History Museum and the deadline for submissions is Oct. 9. Forms are available at schools and youth centers, area churches and the North Tonawanda Public Library.
Children will compete in 5-7 and 8-10 age groups and each group will have a choice of pictures connected to the Erie Canal.
Two winners will be selected in each age group and prizes will be presented on Oct. 24, in advance of the 190th anniversary of the Erie Canal on Oct. 26.
Winning entries will be on display in the museum.
