Upstate Pharmacy expansion gets $240,000 in tax breaks

Upstate Pharmacy’s proposed new home in West Seneca is getting nearly $240,000 in tax breaks through the Erie County Industrial Development Agency.

The $1.7 million project from Concept Construction would build a 15,000-square-foot regional dispensary that would be leased to Upstate, which provides pharmacy services to group homes and cancer patients referred to them by health care providers like Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Upstate does not offer walk-in, retail pharmacy services.

Upstate now operates out of a 10,000-square-foot building on North America Drive, where it employs 70 pharmacists and technicians. The company is promising to create 10 new jobs within two years.

Upstate, which was founded in 1988, provides pharmacy services to 230 residential group homes in Western New York and the Rochester area. It also serves 1,110 cancer patients referred by Roswell Park and other local physicians.
