Plato’s Closet opened a new location at 9500 Transit Road in East Amherst on Thursday.
It is local franchisee Dana Zuber’s third Plato’s Closet location in Western New York.
Plato’s Closet is a national chain of clothing and accessory resellers for customers in their teens and 20s.
The store buys trendy men’s and women’s clothing in excellent condition from individual consumers and resells it at 70 percent off its original retail price.
Zuber also owns two other Plato’s Closet stores, in Northtown Plaza on Sheridan Drive in Amherst and in Southgate Plaza on Union Road in West Seneca.
Because Northtown Plaza will undergo its Whole Foods store redevelopment beginning in January, the Plato’s Closet store in Amherst will relocate to the former Factory Sleep Shop store at 1030 Niagara Falls Blvd. in the Town of Tonawanda in December.
Zuber also owns two Clothes Mentor locations, a similar but separate reseller that specializes in women’s clothing, in Northtown and Southgate plazas.
She said she is planning a third Clothes Mentor location that will open in October in East Amherst adjacent to the Plato’s Closet store on Transit Road.
The Clothes Mentor store in Amherst will also relocate to the former Factory Sleep Shop in the Town of Tonawanda, next to the relocated Plato’s Closet store there.
