Woody Arnold of the Park Country Club in Williamsville shot 3-over-par 74, matching the best round of the day, and leads by two strokes in the 20th State Super Senior Amateur Golf Championship at the Onondaga Golf & Country Club in Fayetteville. Arnold’s total for 36 holes is 4-over 146. Arnold had birdies on the first hole and had four bogeys and 13 pars the rest of the way ,
Randy Young (Belleveue CC, Syracuse) and John Hathway (NYSGA Associate) also shot 74s Wednesday and are tied for second place at 148. Also making the cut to Thursday’s final 18-hole round is Richard Brown (Crag Burn), who is tied for 16th with 81-79-160.
The only WNY player to make the 48-player cut in the 59th State Senior Amateur was Michael McNulty (Park CC) who was in a tied for 34th place after a round of 81 on top of the 75 he shot on Tuesday.
Don Enga, an NYSGA Associate member, held on to the Senior lead with a 2-over 73 after his 70 on Tuesday. Stewart McGough (Bellevue) matched the tournament’s low round with a 70 on Wednesday, to move into a tie for second at 145, two strokes off the lead.
