It’s football season again and the state Department of Motor Vehicles this week sent out a news release encouraging fans to show their support for their favorite NFL teams by ordering team license plates.
“All three of New York’s NFL teams kicked off their seasons Sunday, so it’s a great time for fans to order plates and show their appreciation for their favorite teams not just during football season, but all year long,” DMV Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan said in a news release.
Wait. Teams? What’s this “teams” business.
A little geography refresher is in order here: One NFL team plays in New York and that team is the Buffalo Bills. True, they play in Orchard Park and not Buffalo, but both of those municipalities are in New York State.
You can’t say the same for the misnamed New York Jets and New York Giants. True, they play in a state that has “New” in its name, but that’s as close as the New Jersey-centric teams come to the Empire State.
