$48,027 awarded to St. Johnsburg Fire Company for air tank refilling station

WHEATFIELD – Federal funding totaling $48,027 has been awarded to the St. Johnsburg Fire Company to purchase a new refilling station for firefighter air tanks – the first system of its kind for the department.

The funding, allocated through the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, was announced by Sens. Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, both D-N.Y.

“This new filling station is not only going to help bring us up to compliance, but also ensure that we can better keep our firefighters safe in hazardous situations,” Fire Chief Gary Ziomek said.
