Man may have dropped handgun at UB

State University of New York at Buffalo police increased night time patrols at the North campus in Amherst after getting a report from the Student Union about 3:40 p.m. Monday about a bald man seen having what appeared to be a handgun drop from his waistband, only to have him pick up the possible weapon from the floor and put back into his waistband before leaving the building.

A school wide alert was issued soon after that incident was reported. UB police however insisted they did not believe there was any immediate threat to anyone on that campus nor on the school’s South campus at Main Street and Bailey Avenue in Buffalo. the UB gun incident came almost five hours after a university professor was shot to death in his office at a Mississippi school with reports from there about another teacher being considered a “person of interest” in that case and in the fatal shooting of a woman who reportedly knew both men in another Mississipi town earlier in the day.
