Niagara Falls man pleads not guilty to break-in, copper theft

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man was arraigned in Niagara County Court Friday on charges that he broke into a vacant house in Niagara Falls last year and stole copper pipe.

Assistant District Attorney Joel M. Grundy said DNA evidence left at the scene linked Otis F. Evans, 54, of LaSalle Avenue, to the Feb. 16, 2014, crime on Ontario Avenue. Evans pleaded not guilty to third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny. County Judge Sara Sheldon set bail at $2,000.
