Letter: Obama has no intention of closing Guantanamo

Obama has no intention of closing Guantanamo

Any thought that the current administration in Washington was ever serious about the president’s campaign promise to close the Guantanamo Bay prison should be put to rest by the news that the government, after years of planning, has spent millions of dollars on an underwater fiber optic cable system for the camp scheduled to go online early next year. Who in their right minds would spend such a sum on a facility about to close? We should all sleep better at night knowing that the 2,000-member prison staff will have better Internet access well into the future.
