What's hot in new TV shows coming soon? What's not? What are the trends? News TV Critic Alan Pergament has the answers.
“Limitless” (CBS): Based on the movie starring Bradley Cooper, it’s a smart, high-energy series about a lost young adult who swallows a pill that allows him to use every brain cell and have limitless powers that interest the FBI. He can time a run across Park Avenue perfectly without getting struck by traffic and quickly learn how to medically save his ill father’s life. The story lines are limitless, too.
“Blindspot” (NBC): It’s a fast-moving thriller about a beautiful woman (Jaime Alexander) who is discovered naked in Time Square, covered with intricate tattoos. She has no idea how she got there, who she is or what the marks on her body mean. The FBI tries to help her solve both mysteries. One thing is for sure. This series from Greg Berlanti is much smarter than his success last year, “The Mysteries of Laura.”
“Blood and Oil” (ABC): Don Johnson finds new life in a stylish “Dallas”-like series set in North Dakota with a beautiful cast that includes a charming Chace Crawford of “Gossip Girl.”
“Quantico” (ABC): It has the “How to Get Away with Murder” vibe, an attractive young cast and the mystery of discovering which member of a FBI recruiting class is a terrorist.
“Supergirl” (CBS): Melissa Benoist (“Glee”), stars as Superman’s adorable, enthusiastic cousin. She hasn’t flown in years and reluctantly learns the superhero ropes to save people – and the newspaper industry. Needless to say, I hope she succeeds.
