BASEBALL: Due to rain, the CYB Spartans will now holding tryouts for their 2016 16U travel baseball team at Stigelmyer Park diamond 2 in Cheektowaga on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. Contact Dave Balisteri prior to tryout at 812-7942 or dbalisteri@gmail.com.

BASKETBALL: High school boys and girls players will have an opportunity to demonstrate their talents in front of college coaches at the Upstate New York Hoops Showcases at Nazareth College in Pittsford. The boys showcase is Sunday, Oct. 11, and the girls showcase is Sunday, Oct. 25. Both events will run from noon to 4 p.m. Registration fee is $70, which includes a jersey and NCAA recruiting materials. GOLF: Buffalo-area natives Lancy Smith and John Konsek will be among the honorees at the New York State Golf Association Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony Oct. 10 at the Country Club of Rochester. HOCKEY: The Buffalo Regals Hockey Club still has openings for the beginner program’s 42nd season which introduces the sport to boys and girls 3-9 years of age, teaching basics in skating, passing, shooting, and position. Sessions run twice a week from late September to February. Visit buffaloregals.org. … The Buffalo Regals House Program has openings at the Mite, Squirt (Atom), and Pee Wee levels for the 2015-16 hockey season. Training camps start soon for all divisions as ice times become available. Players are provided with their own new team uniforms for the season which runs from late September through February. In-person registration will be available at Holiday Twin Rinks, 3465 Broadway St., Cheektowaga, Sept. 16 and 23 and Sept. 18 from 5:30-7 p.m.

SOFTBALL: The Gowanda Fall Festival will host a men’s slow pitch tournament on Saturday, Sept. 26, beginning at 11 a.m. Each team is guaranteed three games, home run derby and cash awards. The entry fee is $100. Call Mark Benton at 532-4053 or email hidibenton@aol.com.

VOLLEYBALL: Town of Lancaster Parks and Recreation is looking for teams to fill out its league for the 2015-2016 season, specifically the Men’s A Wednesday league, as well as the Reverse Coed Thursday night league. Call Lancaster Recreation at 684-3320.
