Lockport New Beginnings plans anti-drug walk

LOCKPORT – Lockport New Beginnings will hold its 18th annual “Walk for a Drug-Free Community” at noon Sept. 19, starting at Nelson C. Goehle-Widewaters Marina.

The two-mile walk along the Erie Canal path will raise money for youth programs in the Lockport area. New Beginnings was founded by Carsee Herring of Lockport in 1994 and works on substance abuse prevention and outreach to at-risk youth.

Besides the walk, there will be a raffle at the marina at 1:45. Ticket sales and registration for walkers begins at 11 a.m.
