Region’s fishermen need better access
The brainiac planners in this town must feel that fishermen/women are second-class citizens. They shut off the bridge at the foot of Ferry Street – our access to bait, emerald shiners. OK, so we go to Unity Island and walk 20 to 25 minutes each way to get to the foot of Ferry. Now they shut that end down to remove cast iron benches. I wonder who will end up with those?
We fishermen/women spend a lot of money on licenses each year and it’s the same old story – less access to fishing spots. Officials seem to favor walkers and bicycle riders, who do not need licenses to pursue their sport.
A little consideration to us fishermen would be greatly appreciated since we are paying to use these access spots.
