Eric Mower and Associates, a Syracuse-based marketing and public relations agency with an office in Buffalo, will merge with the Boston-based HB Agency.
The combination will take effect Oct. 1 and brings EMA’s total number of locations to nine, in five states. HB will operate as HB/Eric Mower and Associates into the second half of 2016, before adopting the EMA name. HB’s 20 employees bring the size of EMA’s work force to more than 250 people.
EMA and HB said the merger will allow them “to bring powerful new agency resources” to companies in Boston and New England.
“Together, EMA and HB can offer even stronger capabilities and expertise to clients in the region, especially those in the area’s technology sector,” said Eric Mower, chairman and CEO of EMA, in a statement.
HB’s president and creative director, Kevin Hart, will continue to head the Boston office and become an EMA partner. HB’s CEO, Nicolas Boillot, who co-founded the firm with Hart in 1999, will remain in a consulting role through the end of 2015. He will then focus on another business he co-founded.
While EMA is headquartered in Syracuse, its chief operating officer and chief financial officer are based at its Buffalo office, at the Key Center. EMA has 44 employees in Buffalo.
