Kaleida Health has released a request for proposals for the redevelopment of the Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo site.
The hospital system on Monday sent the request to local, statewide and national developers, who have 90 days to respond.
Kaleida Health is building the Oishei Children’s Hospital, which is set to open in 2017 on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, as a replacement for the nearly 125-year-old Bryant Street hospital.
About two dozen members of the public and community leaders have met through the summer to advise Kaleida Health on how best to reuse the old Children’s Hospital. The campus consists of seven buildings constructed between 1917 and 1995, encompassing 617,000 square feet on a property between Bryant Street and Hodge Avenue, with a handful of additional nearby properties.
