Jamestown and Canisius football, Clarence girls soccer in regional rankings

The defending state football champions from Jamestown and Canisius find themselves ranked in the CBS MaxPreps Regional Top 25 Computer Rankings.

Jamestown, which rallied to win at Niagara Falls 34-33 in Week One, is ranked sixth in the poll. Canisius, the defending state Catholic champions, extended its winning streak to 17 with a 28-7 win over Shenendehowa at the Carrier Kickoff Classic in Syracuse and is ranked No. 25.

Only three New York state teams earned spots in this poll, with Maine-Endwell of the Binghamton-area Section IV being the other.

Meanwhile, Clarence girls soccer is ranked sixth in the USA Today/NSCAA Super 25 poll.
