Three things to watch as Bills return to practice

Like most of you hopefully, the Buffalo Bills enjoyed a three-day weekend.

The team gets back to work Tuesday morning, with the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts coming on Sunday.

Here are three things I'm focusing on Tuesday at practice.

1. The injury report. The time off ideally helped the injured Bills get closer to 100 percent. In particular, the injuries at running back and receiver will be ones to focus on. Just how much will players like LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams, Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin, Chris Hogan and Robert Woods be able to practice?

2. The waiver wire. Specifically, will there be a change at kicker? It's Dan Carpenter's job for now, but coach Rex Ryan has made it clear he plans on giving other kickers a chance to take the job. ESPN reported Monday that Billy Cundiff would go through a workout with the team. Would Ryan really pull the trigger on a change this close to the start of the season?

3. Marcell Dareus' contract talks. Dareus is out for Week One because of a suspension, but a deadline of sorts looms Sunday. If the Bills truly want to get a deal done on a contract extension before the start of the season, the level of urgency in talks will likely pick up.
