LOCKPORT – A Newfane man found unconscious at the wheel of his car on Dysinger Road Tuesday morning was charged with driving while intoxicated by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies .
Thomas J. Wolcott, 31, of Main Street, was also found with a pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine. Deputies said his license previously had been suspended seven times.
Deputies said they discovered Wolcott in the parking lot at 2:44 a.m. passed out at the wheel with the engine running and the lights on. Residents at apartments on Dysinger Road said his vehicle’s headlights had been shining into their apartments. He had his foot on the brake and when he was awakened by deputies he was startled and lurched forward before putting the vehicle into park.
He said he had a few drinks in Barker and had been driving to Newfane. Deputies called him disorientated and antagonistic.
