Three teens were charged with assaulting a 15-year-old and robbing him of his cellphone and sneakers early Monday in Gateway Park near the canal, City of Tonawanda police reported.
The victim was repeatedly punched and kicked and was taken by relatives to an urgent care facility for treatment of injuries to his head and neck, police said.
The suspects – a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old from Williamsville and a 17-year-old from Wheatfield – were each charged with robbery, conspiracy, assault and criminal possession of stolen property. They were found in a North Tonawanda convenience store at Oliver and Wheatfield streets, where police said they also recovered some of the stolen property. They were later identified by the victim as his assailants, police said.
North Tonawanda police assisted in the arrests.
