Driver, passenger both charged after having suspended licenses

SILVER CREEK – A Silver Creek driver and passenger were both were charged after a late-night traffic stop on Central Avenue in the village Sunday night, after both were found to have suspended licenses.

Brandy L. Doucet, the 27-year-old driver, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, after Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies stopped the car in the village for a traffic violation and checked her driver’s records. She was also charged with having an uninspected motor vehicle, failure to signal a turn and improper restraint of a child passenger in the rear between the ages of 4 and 7.

The passenger in the car initially claimed that he had a valid license, but repeatedly provided a false name and date of birth. He was finally identified as 39-year-old Matthew S. Sowers, but his driving privileges also had been suspended. He was charged with a misdemeanor of false personation.

Doucet and Sowers were issued citations to appear in village court.
