Youths take home honors in horse show competition

LOCKPORT – Scores of young competitors took home top honors in the horse show competition held during the Niagara County Fair.

English Division

Serena Nichols, 17, of Niagara Falls, took first place for Senior Hunter Hack, Senior Pleasure, Dressage Training Level Test 1, and was named Senior Champion. Morgan Brown, 17, of Barker, earned first place, Senior Command; Kristen Call, 18, of Grand Island, won first for Novice Equitation Over Fences; Delaney Dorion-Heine, 16, of Clarence, took first in Dressage Training Level Test 3; Taylor Finnerty, 15, of Clarence Center, won first for Senior Showmanship, Senior Hunter Under Saddle, and was Senior Reserve Champion. Faith George, 11, of Gasport won first place for Junior Hunter Hack, Junior Hunter Under Saddle, and was Junior Reserve Champion; Katie Grace Hillestad, 13, of Niagara Falls, took first in Open Hunter Over Fences and Advanced Equitation Over Fences.

Rylee Kieffer, 10, of North Tonawanda, earned first place for Beginner Showmanship, Beginner Hunter Hack, Beginner Equitation, Beginner Pleasure, Beginner Command, Beginner Trail, Beginner Dressage and was named Beginner Champion.

Lockport’s Gabrielle Marchetti, 10, earned first place in Children’s Hunter Over Fences, Low Hunter Over Fences, Junior Pleasure and was Junior Champion. Amber Meyers, 14, of North Tonawanda, earned first for Senior Equitation on the Flat; Renee Retzlaff, 14, of Lewiston,was named Beginner Reserve Champion. Caroline Schwab, 11, of Clarence, earned first place for Junior Showmanship and Junior Equitation on the Flat; Lauryn Strothman, 12, of Middleport, took top honors for Pony Hunter Under Saddle and was Pony Reserve Champion; Katie Widmer, 12, of Lockport, earned first place for Junior Command and Dressage Training Level Test 2. Sarah Yousett, 14, of Newfane, won first place for Pony Hunter Hack, Pony Equitation on the Flat, Pony Pleasure, Senior Trail and was Pony Champion.

Western Division

Arianna Allore, 11, of Newfane, took home top honors for Beginner Showmanship, Beginner Pleasure, Beginner Trail, Beginner Dressage and was Beginner Champion. Kelsey Brown, 9, of Barker, earned first place for Beginner Equitation, Beginner Command and was Beginner Reserve Champion; Allison Dena, 12, of North Tonawanda, took home top honors for Junior Command, Junior Western Riding and was Junior Reserve Champion.

Naomi Farley, 13, of Clarence, won first place for Junior Equitation, and was Junior Champion.

Faith George, 11, of Middleport, won first for Junior Horsemanship; Emma Johnson, 13, of Sanborn, took home top honors for Junior Pleasure and Dressage Test 1, Test 2; Alexis Nadeau, 16, of Sanborn, earned top first place for Senior Showmanship, Senior Western Hack, Senior Pleasure, Senior Command, Senior Horsemanship, Senior Western Riding, and was Senior Champion.

Alyssa Olaf, 17, of Gasport, earned top honors for Senior Western Equitation; Taylor Porter, 14, of Lockport, was Pony Reserve Champion; Ryndak Morgan, 17, of Sanborn, won first place for Senior Trail; Carolyn Schwab, 11, of Clarence, earned top honors for Junior Showmanship and Junior Hack; Katie Widmer, 12, of Lockport, won first for Junior Trail, and Junior Western Dressage; Sara Yousett, 14, of Wilson, earned first place for Pony Western Hack, Equitation Pony, Pony Pleasure and was Western Pony Champion.

Gymkhana Division

Kelsey Brown, 9, of Barker, took first place in the Beginner Cloverleaf Barrels and Beginner Polebending, and was tied for Beginner Champion. Joslyn Bull, 14, of Barker, earned first place in Senior Quadrangle Barrels; Felicia Craft, 16, of Lockport, took first in Senior Bleeding Heart Barrels, Senior Texas T Barrels, Senior Straight Barrels, Senior Stake and Barrel, Senior Keyhole, and was named Senior Champion.

Hannah Fiacco, 10, of Barker, earned first in Pony Quadrangle Barrels, Pony Stake and Barrel, Pony Keyhole and was Pony Reserve Champion. Grace Hannon, 9, of Lewiston, earned first in Pony Cloverleaf Barrels, Pony Bleeding Heart Barrels, Pony Texas T Barrels and was Pony Champion. Hannah Hannon, 12, of Lewiston, won first in Junior Cloverleaf Barrels, Junior Quadrangle Barrels, Junior Stake and Barrel, Junior Keyhole, and was Junior Reserve Champion. Taylor Porter, 14, of Newfane, earned first in Pony Polebending. Emily Reed, 12, of North Tonawanda, won first in Junior Bleeding Heart Barrels, Junior Texas T Barrels, Junior Straight Barrels, Junior Polebending, and was Junior Champion.

Stephanie Sherwood, 18, of Newfane, took home first place in Senior Cloverleaf Barrels, Senior Polebending and was Senior Gymkhana Reserve Champion. Bailey Shocknesse, 11, of Ransomville, earned first in Beginner Straight Barrels, Beginner Keyhole, and tied for Beginner Champion. Sarah Yousett, 14, of Wilson, won first for Pony Straight Barrels.

Miniature Division

Jamie Bower, 13, of Gasport, earned first place in Junior Jumper. Jessica Dell’Aria, 18, of Ransomville, won first in Senior Showmanship and was Senior Miniature Reserve Champion; Calvin Fournier, 9, of Middleport, earned first in Beginner Liberty; Delaney Draper, 14, of Gasport, took home first in Senior Halter Obstacle, Senior Hunter, Senior Jumper and was Senior Miniature Champion. Hannah Fiacco, 10, of Barker, won first for Junior Hunter; Mattie Hamelink, 11, of Lockport, won first for Junior Showmanship.

Melanie Morgan, 14, of Lockport, won first for Beginner Showmanship, Beginner Hunter, Beginner Jumper and was Beginner Champion. Autumn Pupo, 9, won first for Beginner Halter Obstacle; Ashley Randall, 14, of Lockport, took first for Senior Liberty; Hayley Roehling, 13, of Gasport, earned first for Junior Halter Obstacle; Katelyn Schlager, 13, of Akron, won first for Junior Champion; Katie Widmer, 12, of Lockport, won first for Junior Liberty and was Junior Reserve Champion. Maggie Shocknesse, 9, of Ransomville, was Reserve Champion.

Driving Division

Katie Bednarz, 19, of Lockport, won first place for Senior Miniature Country Pleasure Driving, Senior Miniature Horse Driving Reinsmanship, Miniature Horse Timed Obstacle Driving, Miniature Horse Gambler’s Choice Driving and was Miniature Horse Senior Driving Champion.

Ella Bramer, 9, of Clarence, won first place for Junior Miniature Horse Driving Reinsmanship; Jessica Dell ‘Aria, 18, of Ransomville, won first for Senior Miniature Horse Pleasure Driving and was Senior Reserve Champion. Hannah Fiacco, 10, of Barker, earned first for Junior Miniature Horse Timed Obstacle Driving, Junior Miniature Horse Gambler’s Choice Driving and was Junior Miniature Horse Driving Reserve Champion.

Katelyn Schlager, 13, of Akron, won first for Junior Miniature Horse Country Pleasure Driving, Junior Miniature Horse Pleasure Driving and was Junior Pleasure Driving Champion.
