Regan’s boat nails down spot in 2016 Olympics

Buffalo native Emily Regan will compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Regan’s Team USA crew won the women’s eight title at the 2015 World Rowing Championships at Lake Aiguebelette, France, on Sunday. It was the 10th consecutive world title for Team USA in the event.

Team USA finished in 6:05.650 over the 2,000-meter course. New Zealand finished second at 6:08.520 and Canada was third in 6:09.050.

Regan rowed at seat five. The others in the crew were: coxswain Katelin Snyder (Detroit), Heidi Robbins (Hanover, N.H.), Tessa Gobbo (Chesterfield, N.H.), Kerry Simmonds (San Diego.), Lauren Schmetterling (Moorestown, N.J.), Amanda Polk (Pittsburgh), Meghan Musnicki (Naples, N.Y.) and Vicky Opitz (Middleton, Wis.).

Regan, 27, attended Nichols School and Michigan State University.
