Orchard Park man accused of beating woman, disabling her phone

An Orchard Park man is accused of beating a woman late Saturday night during a violent domestic incident in an Abbott Road residence, town police reported.

Jeffrey Silverthorn, 45, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree harassment, first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Silverthorn reportedly punched the 47-year-old woman several times in the face, kicked her and made verbal threats while displaying a BB gun that looked like a rifle, according to a news release. He is also accused of preventing the victim from calling 911 for help by disabling her phone and violating an order of protection.

Silverthorn allegedly fled the scene on foot before officers arrived and was located a short time later walking on Route 20A, the release stated.

He was held for arraignment. The victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital.
