Lockport’s Main Street to be scene of Sept. 17 footrace

LOCKPORT – Main Street in Lockport will be closed on the evening of Sept. 17 for the Flight of Five Mile, the last in a six-race series of 1-mile events around Western New York this summer.

The races will start in front of Chet’s Dog House. Runners will head east on Main Street to a turnaround located after the median in front of First Niagara Bank at East Avenue and Washburn Street before running back to City Hall. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Mural on Main project.

There will be three separate races: an open race begins at 7 p.m., followed by the elite women at 7:30, and the elite men at 8:00. A post-race celebration and awards ceremony will take place at Lock 34 Bar & Grill following the final race.

The entry fee is $20 and complete race and registration information can be found at score-this.com/flightoffivemile.
