Labor Day Summerfest planned at Porter-on-the-Lake

PORTER – The family-friendly Summerfest is slated for 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Porter-on-the-Lake, promising food, activities, music and fireworks.

The annual event also features beer and wine, craft vendors, pony rides, a petting zoo, a magician, face-painting and a bounce house.

Music will be provided by the Frame, 90 West, and Strictly Hip.

The event will close at dusk with fireworks over Lake Ontario provided by Skylighters of New York.

Festivities will be held rain or shine. Admission is $5 for adults and children 12 and under are free. All proceeds will be used for park improvements.

Event organizers Porter Town Councilmen Larry White and his wife, Linda, and Jeff Baker and his wife, Gloria, have teamed up with the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce. They also rely on many volunteers for this annual event.

After inclement weather the past two years, organizers decided to move the event to Labor Day this year.

Major sponsors include CWM Chemical Services, Mark Cerrone Inc., Modern Corp., Niagara Jet Adventures, Mawhiney Trucking, GHD/Conestoga-Rovers and Associates, and the Town of Porter.

Attendees are encouraged to kick off the day at noon with the Youngstown Labor Day Parade in the Village of Youngstown.
