Unseasonable warmth remains with us through midweek

The spirit of summer remains staunchly with us for the remainder of the Labor Day holiday and beyond but change – not the dramatic variety, but daily highs inching toward normal levels – is assured, according to the National Weather Service.

Summerlike patterns with highs into the mid 80s – about 10 degres above normal – will continue into the midweek, according to Kirk Apffel, meteorologist at the Buffalo office, who pointed out that average high for this time of year is about 75 degrees.

The high for Sunday is expected to be 82 degrees; Monday, 85; Tuesday, 86; Wednesday, 80; Thursday, 78; Friday, 76; and Saturday 73 degrees.

Apffel said the best chance for rain is Wednesday and Thursday as a front passes through.
