WALDE, Paul R., Lt. USNR

WALDE - Paul R., Lt. Usnr Of Oklahoma City, OK, September 1, 2015, age 92. He served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa in the Pacific during World War II and the Korean War. He continued flying at the Air Reserve Station in Niagara Falls, NY. Paul was a FAA Air Traffic Controller for several years, beginning his career in New York City, followed by Buffalo, NY and several other New York State airports. Upon retirement, he and his wife Georgia moved to Oklahoma City, where he was an instructor at the FAA Air Traffic Control program at Oklahoma University. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Paula Metzger; granddaughter Sarah (Alex) Fanous and grandson Ian Metzger. He was preceded by his son, Paul G. (Rose) Walde, and grandson Michael Walde. Visitation Monday, September 7, 6-8 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 S.W. 104th St., Oklahoma City. Funeral Mass Tuesday, September 8 at 10 AM at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 4201 South McKinley Ave., Oklahoma City.
