ALBION – Three people, all under the age of 21, have agreed to turn themselves in at the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday morning to face charges of vandalism for setting two crosses on fire Thursday night at the World Sufi Foundation Mosque on Fuller Road in the Town of Carlton, Sheriff Scott D. Hess said Friday.
The sheriff said the three have been interviewed by his investigators and agreed to surrender. The three have not been identified but the sheriff said they all live in Orleans County.
The sheriff’s office was called about 9:30 p.m. Thursday about two crosses that had been doused with gasoline and set on fire in the grass outside the mosque.
Hess said investigators do not believe any other people were involved in the vandalism at the mosque.
