Daughters of Creative Sound will perform Saturday at the first annual Buffalo Youth Empowerment & Family Fun Day Event in Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
The free event, which is set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., is sponsored by the Buffalo Making A Difference Youth Program, a division of the United Black Men’s Think Tank of Buffalo.
A children’s dance performance by Studio J, headed by Jamie Smith, also will be featured, along music by the Eclectic Soul Band. Members of the East Corvette Car Club will have their luxury automobiles on exhibit at the park as part of the “Positive Male Role Model Exhibit.”
Other activities include a karate demonstration by St. Mary’s Academy of Martial Arts and appearances by clowns, who will pass out free balloons in between acts. A “Youth Empowerment Tent” will be set up for visitors to explore local employment opportunities be presented by the Buffalo Employment & Training Center.
Free pony rides are scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m.
