Theft of Republican legislator’s signs probed in Cattaraugus County

LITTLE VALLEY – The theft of about two dozen political campaign signs of Cattaraugus County Legislator Patrick Murphy, R-Cattaraugus, earlier this week is being investigated by the County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb said Thursday afternoon.

The signs were taken late at night on Aug. 30 or early on Aug. 31 on Gowanda Broadway Road, Route 353 in Cattaraugus Village to Linlyco Lake in Little Valley, the sheriff said.

Murphy has offered a $200 reward for any credible information that leads to the arrest of the suspect or suspects. Whitcomb said anyone with information about the theft of the signs should contact his lead investigator, Deputy Matt Rogan, at 938-9191.
